In January 2018  We (Melanie and Stephen) realised our long held ambition to live in the Yorkshire Dales and made the permanent move from the coast in Essex to lovely Askrigg in Wensleydale. We were absolutely delighted to buy Dog Kennel Cottage on the edge of the village with its wonderful 1 acre wooded garden with Paddock Beck running along its edge and superb views across to Addlebrough hill.  Our daughter, Saffron, joined us a month later and we all love it here, just as we knew we would, having holidayed in Wensleydale every year for the last 30 years. We marvel at the scenery, countryside, wildlife and friendliness of the people in the Dales and feel privileged to live in such a special area.  We are keen walkers and wildlife/bird watchers and we all enjoy the outdoor life. Saffron owns 2 horses and is a keen baker, making a range of celebration cakes and tray-bakes.

We are very happy to be able to share the beauty of our surroundings in the Yorkshire Dales National Park with visitors to our Shepherds Hut and look forward to welcoming you!
