Exploring The Dales

DARK SKIES

The Yorkshire Dales is the UK’s largest international dark sky reserve with some of the stariest skies in England due to low light pollution levels. This means we are able to see thousands of stars overhead compared with just a handful seen in towns and cities and on a clear, moonless night you can even see the Milky Way, star clusters and if you are very lucky, the Northern Lights. The Hut In The Wood Askrigg is a ‘Dark Sky Friendly’ business, meaning you can stargaze for yourself from our cosy accommodation.
